Astrobytes asks you for your date, time and place of birth. That is personal information, and unusually personal at that. This page explains exactly what we collect, why we need it, what we do with it, and how you get it back or get rid of it.

We have tried to write this in plain language rather than legal padding. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.

1. Who we are

Astrobytes is a sole proprietorship registered in India (Udyam Registration Number UDYAM-UP-28-0239137), with its registered address at M102, The Hyde Park, Sector 78, Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh 201301, India.

For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), Astrobytes is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here, and you are the Data Principal.

2. What we collect

Data	Why we need it
Your name	To address you in messages.
WhatsApp phone number	To deliver your daily message. This is the service.
Email address	Account recovery, receipts, and important service notices.
Date, time and place of birth	To compute your birth chart. Without these there is no personalised reading — this is the core input to everything we send you.
Gender (optional)	Some classical Vedic readings differ by gender. You may leave it blank.
Current city (optional)	Daily timing windows such as Rahu Kaal depend on your location now, not where you were born.
Your content preferences and delivery time	To send you what you asked for, when you asked for it.
Consent record (the wording you agreed to, timestamp, IP address)	Required by the DPDP Act and by WhatsApp's opt-in policy to demonstrate that you agreed to receive messages.
Message and engagement records (what we sent, delivery status, button taps and replies)	To avoid repeating ourselves, to honour your STOP or pause requests, and to understand which content is worth sending.
Payment records (once paid plans launch)	Handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation and transaction references — we never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.

3. What we do not collect

We do not read your WhatsApp messages to other people. We can only see messages you send directly to Astrobytes.
We do not access your contacts, photos, files or location.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising pixels on this website.
We do not buy personal data about you from anyone else, or combine your data with data from other sources.

4. Why we are allowed to use it

We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you subscribe. That consent is specific, informed and unambiguous: you tick a box that tells you plainly what you are agreeing to, and we keep a record of the exact wording you saw.

You can withdraw your consent at any time (see section 8). Withdrawing it is as easy as giving it: reply STOP to any message.

5. How we use it

To compute your birth chart and generate your daily reading.
To deliver that reading to your WhatsApp number at your chosen time.
To remember what we have already sent you, so we do not repeat it.
To act on your instructions — stop, pause, change preferences.
To handle billing and support requests.

We do not use your data for anything else. Your birth details are not used to build advertising profiles, are not sold, and are not shared with anyone for their own purposes.

6. Who else touches your data

We keep this list as short as we can. Each of these is a service provider acting on our instructions, not an independent recipient of your data:

WhatsApp / Meta Platforms — the delivery channel. Your phone number and message content necessarily pass through WhatsApp to reach you. Their handling is governed by WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
Our hosting and infrastructure provider — stores the database in which your account and chart are held.
Our payment processor — when paid plans launch, to take payment. They handle your payment credentials directly; we do not receive them.
A language model provider — we may use an AI service to phrase your reading in natural language. Where we do, it receives only the already-computed astrological statements and your first name. It does not receive your phone number, email, date of birth, or birth location, and it is not permitted to retain or train on this content.

We may also disclose data if legally required to do so by a court or competent authority.

7. How long we keep it

While you are subscribed: for as long as your account is active.
After you unsubscribe or delete your account: we delete your birth details, chart and message history within 30 days.
Consent and opt-out records: retained for up to 3 years after you leave. We are required to be able to demonstrate that you consented, and that we honoured your STOP. We keep the minimum needed for that — your number and the record itself — and nothing more.
Transaction records: retained as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires.

8. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

Know what personal data we hold about you and what we have done with it.
Correct anything inaccurate — including your birth time, if you find out it was wrong.
Erase your personal data when it is no longer needed for the purpose you gave it for.
Withdraw consent at any time.
Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
Complain to us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if we do not resolve it.

To exercise any of these, email help@astrobytes.in. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.

To simply stop messages, you do not need to email anyone — reply STOP to any WhatsApp message from us and it ends immediately.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days. If you remain dissatisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

10. Security

We protect your data with reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encryption of data in transit, encryption of birth details at rest, restricted access, and audit logging of administrative access. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat birth data as sensitive and design accordingly.

If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required by law.

11. Children

Astrobytes is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has subscribed, tell us and we will delete the account and its data.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you on WhatsApp or by email before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
